About the 10K NTC Thermistor Lug Type
A lug type thermistor (also called a round-head ring thermistor) gets its name from the metal lug (ring) at the tip of the probe, which allows it to be bolted or screwed directly onto a heat sink, pipe, chassis, or appliance surface. This makes the 10K NTC thermistor lug type the preferred choice whenever a probe must maintain firm surface contact for accurate conductive temperature measurement — common in industrial machinery, HVAC units, motor housings, and PCB heat-sink monitoring.
The 10K resistance value at 25°C is an industry-standard NTC value widely supported by microcontrollers, PLCs, and off-the-shelf thermostat modules. To convert resistance to temperature, use the Steinhart-Hart equation or a standard 10K NTC lookup table. This lug type probe is compatible with 3.3V and 5V ADC inputs — simply pair it with a 10K pull-up resistor to VCC and read the voltage divider output.
